Register names a useful question, not an answer. The theory has not reliably predicted or decoded a single pattern.
What the theory proposes
Supporters ask whether the internal branchwork of the Absent Moon records a changing state—a measurement, correspondence, or register—rather than depicting terrain.
The hypothesis is attractive because the field is structured, slowly changing, and not a material globe. Partial co-directional stellar signatures and observer-dependent readings give researchers reasons to test relationships rather than only images.
Where it fails
Register has no reliable decoding, no agreed variable, and no demonstrated predictive success. It proves no builder, intelligence, surveillance, audience, or communication. Visualizing it as an eye, scanner, interface, or readable code would turn speculation into false evidence.
How Veyrans test it
A serious Register study compares named branches across time, viewpoint, weather, Moon alignment, and instrument channel, then asks whether a proposed input predicts a later state. Structured recurrence is a reason to keep testing, not a successful decoding by itself.
Other explanations remain live: the patterns may be intrinsic field dynamics, observer-dependent geometry, environmental response, or behavior that does not carry information at all. The theory earns space in the archive by exposing those failures alongside its attractions.
Why a failed theory still matters
Register gives players a model for responsible speculation. Evidence can support a question without confirming its story, and a hypothesis can organize useful experiments while remaining wrong about the world.
If a future pattern becomes predictive, the result must still establish what variable was measured and what obligations follow. A working readout would not automatically prove an intelligence, builder, audience, or message.
